NaNoWriMo 2015: Day 1

Alright. We are going to do this again. It's my fifth year participating in National Novel Writing Month. Year one was me trying to finish my first novel. Year two was me finishing it. (Dave Woke Up, available now!) Year three was starting the latest novel that's still trying to find a home. Year four was a complete re-write of that second novel.

So here we are, starting something new again. Figured I need to do a little more to help keep me moving, so this will be a little dairy so you can all come along on the ride with me. This year is another sci-fi tale. It's called Lost Arms. I've got a plot and a plan, and a scrivener file full of research and pictures and I am still finding it hard to get started.

Those first words of a book are so important and I never feel like I get them right the first time. Obviously I don't actually have to get anything right the first time, because I'll spend a few years polishing everything before I do anything with it, but I still agonize over that first paragraph every year.

At the same time I'm still trying to do a revision on last years book, currently title A Witch in the Walls. Probably that's going to get pushed into December cause this month always ends up busy even without NaNo responsibilities. I guess we can all see together.
